Meet dr. vanya wagler d.o.

Dr. Vanya D. Wagler is a board-certified rheumatologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and complex inflammatory disorders. He provides comprehensive care for conditions including rheumatoid arthritis,  degenerative arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, psoriatic arthritis, gout, vasculitis, and a broad range of connective tissue and immune-mediated diseases.

Dr. Wagler earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating summa cum laude from Sterling College, before obtaining his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, where he was recognized as both Junior Resident of the Year and Senior Resident of the Year. He later pursued advanced fellowship training in Rheumatology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

  Following his medical training, Dr. Wagler served on active duty in the United States Army for nine years, achieving the rank of Major. During his service, he held roles including Brigade Surgeon, staff internist, and rheumatologist, caring for both service members and their families. His dedication and leadership earned him the Meritorious Service Medal before his honorable discharge in 2018.

Dr. Wagler became board-certified in Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2016 and is also board-certified in Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology.

 Throughout his career, Dr. Wagler has remained deeply committed to medical education, clinical research, and advancing the field of rheumatology. He has served as teaching faculty for residents and medical students, delivered lectures, contributed to peer-reviewed publications, and presented research at national rheumatology and internal medicine conferences. His published work has addressed topics including lupus, gout management, dermatomyositis, hydroxychloroquine therapy, psoriasis-related arthritis, and autoimmune complications.  

 Dr. Wagler’s clinical philosophy is rooted in compassion, science, and patient education. He is passionate about the advancements in rheumatologic care that now allow for earlier diagnosis, more effective treatment, and prevention of long-term joint damage and disability. He believes in identifying the underlying cause of disease while ensuring patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options. His greatest professional fulfillment comes from helping patients reduce pain, restore function, and improve their quality of life. 

 In June 2024, Dr. Wagler founded North Texas Arthritis & Rheumatology, PLLC, with a vision of creating a patient-centered rheumatology practice focused on compassionate care, clinical excellence, and long-term patient wellness. Through the practice, he continues to provide individualized, evidence-based treatment for patients living with arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and complex inflammatory conditions.


Dr. Wagler established the clinic to combine advanced rheumatologic care with a more personal and accessible patient experience. Under his leadership, the practice emphasizes diagnosis, comprehensive treatment planning, patient education, and the use of the latest therapies and technologies to improve outcomes and quality of life. His commitment to listening to patients, identifying underlying disease, and delivering thoughtful, collaborative care remains the foundation of the clinic’s mission.



Outside of medicine, Dr. Wagler enjoys spending time with his wife, and their four children. He values outdoor activities, running, and music. He also has a longstanding interest in history, reading, and lifelong learning.
