Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at patientexperience@ntxarthritisrheum.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

For most appointments, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to complete patient paperwork and ensure we have up-to-date insurance information.

Our doors lock after hours and for lunch. We will unlock the doors at 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM, which may impact check-in for our patients scheduled at these times.

We are happy to offer our patients on-site lab testing with our partner Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL).

CPL offers its own patient portal that allows access to your results from testing performed at our clinic as well as other offices that use their services.

For more information, follow this link for the CPL Patient Portal.

To help us serve all patients efficiently, we kindly ask that you provide advance notice when canceling or rescheduling:

• Office Visits: Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance
• Procedures: Please cancel at least 72 hours in advance

Late cancellations or missed appointments will incur a fee:
• Office Visits: $35
• Procedures: $75

We understand that emergencies happen and will always take that into consideration.

Our rheumatology clinic does not perform disability evaluations or provide documentation for disability claims.

We focus on diagnosing and treating rheumatic diseases to improve our patients' quality of life and manage their symptoms effectively.

For disability evaluations, we recommend contacting your primary care physician or a specialized disability evaluation service. Our team is happy to provide your medical records to the appropriate parties with your consent to support any disability claims you may pursue.

If you have a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you have a non-life-threatening medical concern, please call our office and we will do our best to fit you in for an appointment.

To become a new patient at North Texas Arthritis & Rheumatology, you can call our office or submit a request for appointment form to schedule an initial appointment. During your appointment, we will gather information about your medical history and discuss your healthcare needs.

We do not prescribe or manage narcotic medications as part of our treatment plans.

We focus on utilizing non-narcotic pain management strategies, disease-modifying drugs, and other specialized treatments for rheumatic conditions.

For patients who may require narcotic pain medications, we recommend working with your primary care physician or a pain management specialist.

We welcome new patients and strive to ensure the best possible care.

• A doctor-to-doctor referral is recommended for new patients, as it helps us provide more informed and coordinated care.
• Referrals are not mandatory, but previous office notes, lab results, or imaging are very helpful in guiding treatment.

Important Insurance Requirement:
If your insurance plan requires a referral, both a doctor-to-doctor referral and an insurance referral are needed before scheduling a new patient appointment.

We accept most major insurance plans.

Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana Medicare Advantage, Medicare, UMR, United Healthcare Medicare Advantage, United Healthcare, Tricare.

• We do not accept exchange plans
• If you are unsure about your coverage, please contact our office with your insurance details for clarification

Cash Pay Options Available:
• New Patient Visit: $200
• Follow-Up Visit: $125
• TeleHealth: $75

Cash pay rates do not include procedures.

We do not accept walk-ins for new patients. All new patient visits must be scheduled in advance.

For established patients, if you are experiencing a medical concern and arrive as a walk-in or call the office, we will do our best to accommodate you based on provider availability.

New patient appointments are typically scheduled 2–3 weeks out.

If you would like to be seen sooner, we can place you on our cancellation list, and we will contact you if an earlier appointment becomes available.
